Room for One More

Hello!  Thank you for visiting our adoption blog.  We are Dan and Anne Dailey, and we have three wonderful children with "room for one more."  God is leading us to adopt a little girl from India to join Levi (8), Vada (6), and Oliver (5).

We live in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and attend Lebanon Valley Bible Church.  Dan is a e-comm manager at Philadelphia Mixing Solutions, and Anne is a stay-at-home mom.  We are in our fourth year of homeschooling, and we are amazed as we watch God grow our wonderful children.

Eve Sherry is the name that we have chosen for our adopted daughter.  Renaming an adopted child may seem odd or uncaring; however, it is actually a very loving thing to do.  Biological children are given their names by their parents, thus providing an identity for the children.  In many cases, adopted children may be leaving a less-than-ideal situation.  The new name gives them a new beginning.

Also, renaming someone is biblical, as there are several examples of this in the Bible where God renames someone after He changes their lives (Abraham, Israel, Paul, etc.).

Eve means "to sow seed or plant" in Hebrew.

Sherry, Anne's mom's name, is a variant of "Sharon," which means "fertile ground" in Hebrew.  Eve Sherry means to plant in fertile ground, which is a good working definition of adoption.  The amazing part about this is that we chose the name Eve Sherry before we knew what the name meant.  After realizing the meaning, we felt God was affirming that He would see us through this adoption process.

We have also tried to give each of our children meaningful names.  Levi Azariah means "joined together, the Lord has helped."

Vada Mae means "wise flower."

Oliver Jude means "praise God for His fruitfulness."

We have recently realized that our children's initials spell "LOVE."  :o)
